SENE Film, Music and Arts Festival Phil Bio

Phil Capobres is the Artistic Director and co-founder of the Southeast New England Film, Music and Arts Festival. Prior to founding SENE, Phil was Operations Director and Managing Director with the Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF). He joined RIIFF as a volunteer in 2004 and joined the RIIFF board in 2005. During 2006 and 2007 Phil helped manage the screening, judging and selection process for over 1500 films. In 2006 and 2007 RIIFF screened over 300 films during the annual week-long event. Prior to joining RIIFF, Phil worked with various film festivals in Dallas and New York City.

In 2009 Phil was elected to the board of RI Citizens for the Arts (www.ri4arts.org), whose mission is to serve as the voice for the diverse statewide arts community in order to further raise awareness and support for the arts in the public and private sector, for the benefit of all Rhode Islanders.

In 2006 the Rhode Island International Film Festival nominated Phil for the Arts Advocate Award, which is presented by the Arts & Business Council of Rhode Island to honor outstanding contributions and dedication to support arts and culture in the state of Rhode Island. In 2008 RIIFF selected Phil as a recipient of their Producer’s Circle Award for his creativity and support and his vital role in the growth and expansion of the festival.

Phil is currently Director, Strategic Marketing Analysis with Fidelity Investments in Smithfield, RI. Prior to joining Fidelity, Phil was VP Marketing with Trivnet in New York City and Director, Sales & Marketing Analysis with DSL.net in New Haven, CT. Phil holds an MBA in Industrial Management from the University of Dallas and a BS in Quantitative Business Analysis from Arizona State University. Phil recently earned a certificate in Project Management from BryantUniversity. Phil volunteers with several community service organizations and is a member of the Rhode Island Film Collaborative (www.rifcfilms.com), an independent collaborative striving to assist in independent filmmaking.
